Fecken-Kirfel prepares for a new generation to take the helm
As a globally recognised manufacturer of cutting and splitting machines, we are laying the groundwork to ensure that our success continues in the future. Jochen Klein and Dr Paul Grzeschik will join the Board of Directors of Fecken-Kirfel on 1 October 2025. This step is in preparation for the retirement of Volker Schiffer) in 2026.
The start of a new era
After playing a key role in the company management for almost 40 years, Volker Schiffer is now actively supporting the handover to a new generation. During the transition period, he will continue to lead the company alongside the future management duo, while gradually stepping back into a consulting role. “I’m convinced that Jochen Klein and Dr Paul Grzeschik are the ideal additions to our management team. By returning to the tried-and-tested tandem management model, we are setting the right course for continued success,” emphasises Schiffer.
Jochen Klein to take control of administrative side
Jochen Klein, who is set to take over the administrative side of the company, is an experienced manager. Born in Aachen, he gained over ten years of experience at the Prym Group, and has been part of the Board of Directors at Fecken-Kirfel since 2023. He will take responsibility for central company affairs such as finance, HR and contractual matters. Human resources is one area in particular to which he intends to devote himself swiftly, in order to position Fecken-Kirfel as an attractive employer in Aachen and the region. “I believe Fecken-Kirfel does a lot of things well, which we must continue, but there are also a lot of opportunities for positive development”, he says.
Dr Paul Grzeschik to lead technology and sales
Dr Paul Grzeschik studied mechanical engineering at the RWTH Aachen University. He was most recently employed as Head of Design at Deutz AG, and will take responsibility for technology and sales. Dr Grzeschik will focus on developing the technology behind our cutting and splitting machines. Through a combination of digitalisation, automation and the use of artificial intelligence, he aims to further boost the company’s efficiency, precision and innovative prowess. He sees close communication with customers as key to developing practical solutions. “Only when we understand our technology as deeply as possible will we be able to develop the right solutions for our customers,” explains Grzeschik.
Strong impetus for the future
Together with the other partners of Fecken-Kirfel, Volker Schiffer believes the new management duo will provide the necessary impetus for the future. The combination of regional roots, business acumen and technological innovation will help write the next chapter in Fecken-Kirfel’s success story.
